HES Achieves ISO 14001 Certification Through Solar Power and Sustainability Initiatives
3 April 2024
HES is pleased to announce its recent certification as an ISO 14001 business, a big step forward on the path towards sustainable business practices and reducing our environmental footprint.
While the ISO 14001:2015 certification is a recent achievement, HES has already taken significant steps to promote environmental responsibility throughout its business operations, a prerequisite for the ISO evaluation process. These efforts include less waste production leading to reduced waste management costs, increased efficiency in processes, a higher environmental competence throughout the company and most significantly, the installation of rooftop solar panels at the HES facility in Daventry.
The solar panels, installed in October 2022, have generated approximately 25,500 kWh of clean energy over the past 18 months, resulting in equivalent savings in energy costs. This has significantly contributed to mitigating expenses, particularly amidst the surge in electricity costs across the UK. HES is making progress towards completely offsetting the installation costs through accumulated savings by summer 2024.
Reflecting on this initiative, Adam O'Connor, Operations Manager Designate at HES Sales, remarked, "We are continuously aiming to reduce our environmental impact in line with global sustainability objectives and the installation of solar panels reaffirms this. With the solar panels, we have reduced our dependence on the national grid resulting in substantial cost savings on electricity."
I'm pleased that HES has taken this crucial step which not only benefits us as a UK-based company but also contributes to global and local decarbonisation efforts, reaffirming our commitment towards environmental responsibility.
